The drums are mounted on a shaft which is driven by a DC motor and gearbox. The speed of the motor can be varied so that the cable or conduit is de-reeled at the correct rate.

The cable is accumulated by winding it between 4 upper pulleys, mounted on a spindle on a fixed upper arm and 3 lower pulleys, mounted on a movable dancer arm and then on to the machine. As the cable or conduit is pulled by the cutting machine, the dancer arm moves upwards towards the fixed upper arm. As it approaches the fixed arm a sensor switches on the motor and de-reels cable, thus lowering the dancer arm to its fully down position. The drive motor stops at this point.

The standard de-reeler is fitted with a clutch so that the cable is not affected by the de-reeler arm and does not slip once it has been paid out.

The shaft on which the cable drum is clamped is 38mm/1.5in diameter. Drums with larger central mounting holes can be fitted on the shaft using tapered bushes to keep them concentric. The shaft can be changed to a smaller diameter for mounting holes less than 38mm/1.5in however the maximum cable drum weight will be reduced.

The size of the upper and lower pulleys is 125mm/5in diameter. They can be increased if the cable or conduit will not easily wind around the wheel curvature.

This power de-reeler is suitable for use with the Benetec 6000 series conduit cutting machines and 6900 series Cut & Weld machines for stranded wire.
